Total Lunar Eclipse 2018: Rare 'Super Blood Blue Moon' Visible On January 31

The next supermoon lunar eclipse visible throughout all of the United States will be January 21, 2019 -- though that one will not be a blue moon.

                                             NEWS99PC.BLOPSPOT.COM

The first full moon of 2018 will be a supermoon, and will occur on Tuesday. In the wee hours of that day, the moon will appear 14 per cent larger and nearly 30 per cent brighter than a normal full moon.
A supermoon is a full moon which occurs when the Moon is closest to the Earth, making it appear bigger
and brighter.
The moon goes around the earth in an elliptical orbit. The point at which the moon is closest to the earth is called perigee, and the farthest point in the orbit is called apogee.
In about one hour, the distance between the earth and the moon changes by nearly 667 km.
The moon is set to reach its perigee, at a distance of 356,565 km from the earth, at 3.34 am and will set around 7.54 am.
“The best time to watch this supermoon would be when it is setting over the western horizon in the early morning. People can witness it from any place where the western horizon is clear,” said Arvind Paranjpye, director of the Nehru Planetarium.
The last supermoon had occurred on December 3, 2017. “However, Mumbai could not see it as the sky was quite overcast that day,” Paranjpye said.
People in Mumbai will also get to experience the phenomenon of supermoon zero shadow. On Monday night, as the supermoon passes directly overhead at 20 degrees latitude, the shadows of vertical objects will disappear for a while.
Some of the places close to 20 degrees latitude, starting from the east, are Puri, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, Bhawanipatana, Bhadravati, Chandrapur, Pusad, Jalna, Aurangabad and Nashik. Some places north and south of this line where one can feel the moon overhead are Raipur, Durg, Nagpur, Yavatmal, Amravati, Bhusawal, Bid, Ahmednagar, Pune, Mumbai and Surat.
Here's where you can see it up close:
The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is making arrangements for people to view the celestial phenomenon at their premises, where you can do so through some of their telescopes

The first phone with an under-glass fingerprint sensor officially announced

Vivo has officially announced the first phone with an under-glass fingerprint sensor

The Vivo X20 Plus UD, as mentioned in the original article below, is simply a variant of original X20 Plus without the rear-facing fingerprint sensor. Instead, Vivo has partnered with US-based sensor maker Synaptics to include an under-glass fingerprint sensor in the front of the phone. We were able to try it out at CES 2018

The X20Plus UD features a big 6.43-inch, 18:9 Super OLED display with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,140. It also comes with dual 12 MP cameras, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, and a 3,905 mAh battery.

Unfortunately this device is only being released in China for now. Pre-orders open today, though no pricing details have been announced at this time.

news99pc.blogspot.com
One of the highlights of CES 2018 was the announcement of the first smartphone to feature an in-screen fingerprint reader. CES ended only ten days ago, but Vivo has just announced that the first phone to hit the market with the new technology will launch on January 24.

Surprisingly, the phone will be sold as an X20 Plus. You might be confused by the moniker since the original X20 Plus launched in September 2017. In fact, the prototype featured at CES was a heavily modified X20 Plus. It appears that this new device will be a variant of the original, which could be confusing from a marketing perspective.

While no specs for this new X20 Plus were officially released, the telecommunications certification center of China (TENAA) lists the device with the following:

6.43-inch OLED display, 2,160 x 1,080 resolution
165.2 x 80.02 x 7.35 mm dimensions and 183.1 g weight
2.2 GHz octa-core processor
4 GB RAM
Dual cameras on back (12 MP and 5 MP)
12 MP front-facing camera
128 GB memory, expandable via microSD slot
3,800 mAh battery
Color choices including Black Gold, Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, & Matte Black

The TENAA listing all but confirms these specs to be true, but no one knows for certain until Vivo launches the device in two days.

The rumored price of the smartphone is 3,998 yuan (USD $624.27). With the rumored specs listed above and the fact that the device is the premiere of one of the most highly desired features today, the X20 Plus easily falls into flagship, high-end category of smartphones.

Google has launched audiobooks on the Google Play Store in India and the new option will be rolling out in over 45 countries. The audiobooks will initially support nine languages. This option will also be available for Google users in India. With the help of these audiobooks, users can ask the Google Assistant to read out their books.
“We are rolling out Google audiobooks today, for users who prefer books to be read out to them. The Google Assistant integration with audiobooks is available on AndroidiOS, Chromecast, Android Wear, Android Auto or even your laptop,” Greg Hartrell, Head of Product Management, Google Play Books said on the launch.
Google audiobooks will include titles like Jhumpa Lahiri’s Unaccustomed EarthAstrophysics For People In A Hurry by Neil Degrasse Tyson, One Night At The Call Center by Chetan Bhagat. Users will able to give a command like “Ok Google, read my book” and the Assistant can then read out the audiobook. The feature will work on web, app on Android and iOS devices, which include the Google Assistant. The feature for audiobooks will also be supported on Google Home and many others where it is available.
It should be noted that the audiobooks service does not require any subscription. Google will give users the option of buying a single audiobook. There will also the option of free preview of the book before a user decides to buy it. Users can also try out commands like “Ok Google, who is the author?” or “Ok Google, stop playing in 20 minutes” to set a timer for bedtime reading.
Audiobooks will also get support across multiple devices. So a user can start the day by reading the book on the phone and then picking up on the tablet or another device. Google says users can pick up where they left off, no matter what device they use.

Google Files Go app: How to delete WhatsApp ‘Good morning’ messages and more

How to delete WhatsApp ‘Good morning’ messages and more

A report in WSJ says WhatsApp Good Morning messages are clogging up smartphones in India and slowing down these mobiles. Here's how Google's Files Go app can help users to clear up space on their phone.

NEWS99PC.BLOGSPOT,COM

For smartphone users in India, figuring out how to clear space on the device can often be a challenge. Yes, 32GB storage phone with microSD support might be the new standard here, but this is often never enough given the love for WhatsApp forwards in India and phones tend to fill up fast on storage. In fact, Wall Street Journal has reported on how WhatsApp forwards, especially ‘Good Mornings’ are causing phones to fill up in India. The report also looks at the Google Files Go app, which has crossed 10 million downloads on the Play Store since its December, 2017  launch.
According to the WSJ report, Google Files Go app is designed for a market like India. In fact, Google’s team of engineers worked for months, training their AI and database to identify ‘Good Morning’ messages, even those where they are written on top of images. Google also told WSJ that Files GO has cleared up on average more than 1GB of data per user. So how does the Google Files Go app work and how can it clear up space on your phone? We explain below.
What is Google Files Go App? How to download?
Google Files Go app was first announced at the company’s annual Google for India event in December, 2017. The app is more than just about clearing up space on the smartphone. It also allows users to share files from their mobiles, even when they are offline. India is a mobile-driven market with more internet users coming online for the first time via their smartphones, which is one of the reasons why this app was launched and appeals to the user base.
Google Files Go app can be downloaded from the Play Store. It  supports Android5.0 Lollipop and above versions of the OS. So most users in India who have bought an Android phone in the past two years should be able to access the app.
NEWS99PC.BLOGSPOT.COM4
What can the Google File Go app do? How does it clear space on the phone?
As soon as the user will open the Google Files Go app, it will ask for permission to access the storage of the phone. Users need to grant this in order for the app to figure out which files, apps, photos, etc should be deleted. Once a user grants permission, the app shows the total amount of used storage on the phone out of the total available storage.
As the user scrolls down, information is displayed in card formats with Files Go showing which unused apps can be deleted, temporary app files to delete, downloaded files, large files, photos, etc. It will also showcase media from ShareIt, bluetooth, WhatsApp, etc., which the user can delete to get back storage space. In fact in WhatsApp media, the infamous Good Morning messages were also visible for deletion.
NEWS99PC.BLOGSPOT.COM
Below each card is the amount of space that one will get if they remove these files from their phones. So suppose a user wants to keep all WhatsApp messages for some reason, but wants to clear up the Bluetooth files, then they can just tap on Clear Media for Bluetooth files and those will be deleted.
Even in WhatsApp messages, it is possible to individually decide which pictures should be deleted. A user can just tap on the particular card and it will expand. The user can then individually select each picture which they wish to delete from the phone.
NEWS99PC.BLOGSPOT.COM
Google File Go App: Here’s how it can be used to transfer files without using the internet.
What is the Files Tab on Google Files Go? How can it transfer files without Internet?
Files Go app is not just about deleting all those WhatsApp Good morning messages. It can also be used to transfer data securely to another user without relying on the internet. The app relies on a secure Hotspot. For this, switch to the Files Tab at the bottom, scroll down and the option for Transfer Securely without Internet should be visible.
Now the user can tap on Send. The app will ask for location and permission to make calls. Grant those as well as permission to modify storage. Next, set up a name. The user also needs to make sure the friend to whom they wish to transfer a file also has the app.  The user will then have to tap on the receive option. Once their friend has accepted the transfer, a secure connection is created. Now a user can just choose which file to share, and it will be transferred in seconds. We managed to share 77 MB video file in just over 20 seconds on the app.

Now, add more characters to your Twitter display name

Now, add more characters to your Twitter display name

NEWS99PC.BLOGSPOT.COM

New York: Twitter has more than doubled its count for users' display names from 20 to 50 characters, days after the social media giant ended the iconic 140-character tweet limit.

The San Francisco-based company announced yesterday that a user can add a display name of up to 50 characters, up from the original 20 characters.

The change comes as a relief to many users who have bigger names or want to add colour to their names.

"Starting today, your Twitter display name can be up to 50 characters in length! Go ahead, add that middle name or even a few more emojis," said Twitter.

The company announced last week that it was rolling out a 280-character tweet limit for nearly all its users, including for those who tweet in Hindi, abandoning its famous 140-character limit.

"We're expanding the character limit! We want it to be easier and faster for everyone to express themselves," Twitter said.

The move was both appreciated and mocked by the users.

"The best bit about 280 is never having to shorten whilst, amidst, and amongst ever again," posted one user.

"I've always thought that 140 characters were too little to effectively convey ones thoughts," another user wrote.

"The whole point of Twitter was its brevity #280characters," a Twitterati wrote.

"Already massively bored by everyone's mind-numbing 280 character tweets. This is a terrible mistake," another user said.

Users can lengthen their Twitter display name which is not the same as user name by going to your profile page and tapping Edit Profile.

They can change their user name through the Settings and Privacy menus, however it has to be unique and cannot exceed 15 characters.

Budget 2018: Centre could decrease rates, increase tax slabs, says EY survey

Budget 2018: Centre could decrease rates, increase tax slabs, says EY survey

news99pc.blogspot.com

With just 10 days left for the UnionBudget 2018, the printing of the Budget has started. In the meantime, a survey claims the government could give relief to the common man by increasing the tax slabs. It also says the government could even reduce the tax interest rates under these slabs.
Financial counselling Service Company EY conducted a survey this month, and more than 150 financial officers, tax chiefs and chief financial professionals took part in it. From all those surveyed, as many as 69 per cent said the government should increase the tax exemption limit. The respondents said if the limit is increased, people will have more money to spend.
At the same time, 59 per cent believed that with different types of now 'irrelevant' rate cuts, there should be a standard reduction so that there's less burden on employees. Nearly 46 per cent of people hoped that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley could reduce the Corporate Tax, though they said the FM could keep cess. Also, 65 per cent of the people said the government could change the tax system on dividend. EY has concluded from the survey that there would be an improvement in the over tax structure. The company said the tax schemes would be more stable and continuous in this Budget.
As per the current scheme, one has to pay income tax between 5 per cent and 30 per cent as per their income. In the FY 2017-18, you don't need to pay any tax if your income is Rs 2.5 lakh. One has to pay 5 per cent tax on income between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, while 20 cent on income between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. If your income is Rs 10 lakh or more, you need to pay 30 per cent of the income tax.
There are different tax slabs for those aged between 60 years and 80 years. For those falling in this category, there is no tax on income up to Rs 3 lakh, while it's 5 per cent for those having the income between Rs 3 to 5 lakh. For those having Rs 5 to 10 lakh income, the tax rate is 20 per cent and 30 per cent for those having income more than Rs 10 lakh.

Budget 2018-19 to be presented on February 1, session to commence on January 29

Budget 2018-19 to be presented on February 1, session to commence on January 29

news99pc.blogspot.com

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar today said that the Budget session of Parliament would commence from January 29 and the Budget 2017-18 would be presented on February 1. President Ramnath Kovind will address the joint sitting of the two Houses on the first day of Budget session and the Economic Survey will be tabled on the same day.
"The first phase of the session will be from January 29 to February 9. After a recess, Parliament will meet again from March 5 to April 6," Parliamentary Affairs Minister said.
The government had last year advanced the budget date by one month. Up until then, country's annual budget was presented on the last working day of February. However, the Modi government departed from the tradition, saying that presenting the budget a month earlier would help in ensuring that proposals take effect from April 1.
While addressing the economists, Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year said: "The date of budget presentation is being advanced so that expenditure is authorised by the time the new financial year begins." The Budget 2018-19 would be the last full Budget of the current government before the 2019 General Elections.
In keeping with practice, a vote-on-account or approval for essential government spending for a limited period is taken in the election year and a full-fledged budget presented by the new government.

It offers registered merchants and business partners the ability to track payments, navigate through past transactions, and track settlements through a mobile app. Merchant partners can also print out their QR code directly from the app. The app is available in 10 regional languages.
As we mentioned, Paytm has rolled out the Paytm for Business app on the Google PlayStore. This app has a simple interface that allows merchants to view their transactions before the confirmation SMS or email is received. With options like daily, weekly, and monthly statements, Paytm business partners can get access to information such as UTR numbers of daily bank settlements, bank settlement duration, and more.
Paytm for Business app also allows merchants to raise support tickets, check status of existing tickets, browse through common FAQs, and get priority access to Merchant Helpdesk.
All Paytm business partners are entitled to 0 percent commission when transferring funds to bank. The app also offers cashless KYC onboarding. Additionally, all partners can accept payments through QR code via payment methods such as Paytm, UPI, credit card, and debit card. While there is an initial monthly payment receiving limit of Rs. 50,000, it can be further increased on a custom request.
Paytm recently announced the rollout of Paytm Cash, which is slightly different from the existing system. With Paytm Cash, future cashback amounts will be usable only on the Paytm app for actions like shopping, cabs, flight bookings, and much more. The cashback earned from purchases will apparently not be available for bank transfer.
